Boa Vista Church

Set within Boa Vista Village’s Town Center, Our Lady of Grace Church serves as a focal point within the development’s broader composition. Drawing on the tradition of churches that have long anchored civic life, the building establishes a quiet presence between architecture, landscape, and community. Sig Bergamin and Murilo Lomas looked to the architectural language of New England and Hamptons churches to develop a building defined by simplicity and permanence. Clean volumes, exposed structure, timber detailing, and pronounced verticality establish its character, while its scale maintains a close relationship with the surrounding landscape of Fazenda Boa Vista. Natural light plays a defining role throughout the interior. Over the course of the day, stained-glass windows created by Vik Muniz transform the atmosphere, filtering light and introducing an artistic dimension to the architectural experience. Rather than functioning as decorative elements, the works create a dialogue between tradition and contemporary expression, bringing together art, spirituality, and architecture. Conceived to integrate naturally into both the landscape and the daily life of Boa Vista Village, the church asserts its presence through silence, light, and the precision of its gestures.
