Benjamin Osteria

Located on the ground floor of the iconic Edifício JBZ in Porto Alegre, Benjamin Osteria Moderna marks the first commercial project in southern Brazil by Sig Bergamin & Murilo Lomas. Conceived as an architectural and sensory composition, the space orchestrates materiality, light, and atmosphere with deliberate sophistication. At the entrance, the bar sets the tone of the interior, defined by a suspended installation of 224 gilded aluminum tubes that, beneath a 5.7-meter ceiling, establishes scale, luminosity, and presence. The dining room is wrapped in continuous panels of high-gloss pau-ferro wood, whose reflective surface amplifies light and deepens the spatial experience. Metal-link curtains filter illumination and introduce movement, creating subtle transitions and an ever-changing play of shadows. In the restrooms, wallpaper from Gucci Home, featuring cranes and dragonflies in soft shades of pink and green, provides a refined graphic counterpoint. Furniture, carpets, and the wine cellar integrate seamlessly into the overall composition, reinforcing a sense of cohesion and intention. In dialogue with chef Bruno Hoffmann’s Italian cuisine, the project transforms dining into an experience shaped by light, texture, and quiet elegance.
