Soft Grandeur Home
Across three levels, Sig Bergamin and Murilo Lomas treat maximalism as an architectural language. Classical and contemporary elements coexist without compromise, in rooms where material, color, and art direct the eye with intention. The gallery sets the tone like an entrance hall with a point of view. A Carrara marble stair traces the movement, while a tailored grid of mirrors follows the curved wall, expanding perspective with precision. Vik Muniz’s Golden Temple establishes the first axis and places the home firmly in the realm of collecting. In the living room, wood-paneled walls bring warmth and depth, countered by mineral surfaces and the graphic pull of the art. Contemporary pieces by Pierre Augustin read as a clean cut, calibrating proportion and comfort. A work by Hildebrando de Castro anchors the room opposite the fireplace, while a Philippe Decrauzat piece beneath the mantel sharpens the visual field with optical rigor. Upstairs, the attic shifts the mood. Generous classical upholstery meets velvets and ikats in camel and burgundy, with walls and carpet held within the same chromatic family. Hand-painted classical motifs add an atelier finish. Antiqued mirrors on the ceiling and sloped planes deepen the space, and the bar, wrapped in tufted leather, seals the atmosphere of a private salon. In the end, this is a house that does not aim for neutrality. It aims for presence: maximalism with a practiced hand, where every layer has purpose and every room is meant to be lived in.
