Catarina Executive Airport
At São Paulo Catarina International Executive Airport, the VIP lounge takes on the status of a destination. Designed by Sig Bergamin and Murilo Lomas, the space breaks away from the typical coldness of airport terminals and proposes a waiting experience that feels closer to a private gallery than a place of transit. The project is guided by a direct and ambitious concept: placing the relationship between art and architecture at the center of the composition, within an environment conceived for well-being, comfort, and a quiet sense of sophistication. Natural light leads the narrative. Large expanses of glass, strategically positioned, illuminate light-toned surfaces and create an ideal setting for a curated selection of Brazilian and international art, with installations that seem to suspend the sense of departure time. In parallel, furniture inspired by 1950s and 1960s design employs soft, natural tones to preserve the prominence of the artworks and maintain a visually calm atmosphere, even when the lounge is fully occupied. Integrated into the airport’s overall design, the VIP lounge of the executive terminal reinforces comfort and privacy as a defining language. Here, waiting ceases to be an interval and becomes an atmosphere, a place where the journey begins before the flight, with the same precision used to choose a work of art, a light, a gesture.
