Warm Oasis

The expansion of this residence, designed by Sig Bergamin and Murilo Lomas, is organized around a library that serves as the home’s new center. More than a space for reading, it accommodates a generous ground-floor sitting area and connects to the other levels, where a terrace, pantry, suite, offices, and a rooftop are arranged. Verticality is defined by a sculptural staircase clad in high-gloss wood, which structures the space and draws the eye upward to the skylight. Beneath it, a composition of pendant lights reinforces the central axis and enhances the interplay of light and reflection. In the main sitting area, classical and contemporary references coexist with clarity. A traditionally tailored sofa, with tassel and skirt, establishes the foundation of the room, while two pairs of Ralph Lauren armchairs, one more modern in design and the other more classic, create a dialogue between styles. At the center, a contemporary polished brass table introduces contrast and precision. In one corner, a Ralph Lauren game table, paired with chairs from the same brand, reinforces the space’s social dimension. Surrounding it, bookshelves filled with books, objects, and artworks define the library as a place of collection and permanence.
