New York Classic Apartment
In the heart of New York, just steps from Central Park, this apartment unfolds as a collector’s interior, where classical pieces, many custom-designed, coexist with ease. Upholstery sets the tone. Generous in scale, with skirts and tassels, it anchors the rooms, while fabrics, floral damasks, ikats, and chevrons, introduce variation and rhythm. The composition is rich, yet never excessive. The walls are treated as architecture. Gilded boiseries frame the spaces and extend into aged metal details, curtain rods, frames, and furnishings, creating a quiet continuity throughout. In the primary suite, pale blue slows the eye. The atmosphere is more restrained, almost ethereal, without abandoning classical precision. In the guest suite, the register shifts: oriental references in the wallpaper and table lamp meet a checked curtain in an unexpected balance. Art moves naturally through the apartment. Oil paintings punctuate the rooms, while Botero’s Ballerina introduces a note of humor and volume. Nothing here seeks resolution. The interest lies in layering, in detail, in the way each element meets another over time
